Wedding Cupcake Toppers DIY

We got married back in March of this year, and I have been meaning to share all of the handmade and special details.   The photos are by Linnea Paulina Photography.   The white velvet cupcakes with raspberry cream cheese frosting were made my younger sister Tanya.

Some of them had berries as a decoration, but most had the cupcake toppers my sisters designed.  Thanks to Yulia to modeling them for our photographer.

We made these super cute cupcake toppers with my sisters, my cousin Tonya,  and  one of my aunts in one sitting. All 200 of them…

You can use this method for gift tags, or any other craft. It’s very simple and relatively cheap. After we figured out our method, it actually didn’t take very long.

Here is what you will need:

  • White tags (we purchased ours at Michaels, they had tiny strings attached to them which we clipped off ahead of time)
  • Coffee
  • Stamping ink
  • Stamps
  • Toothpics
  • Glue Dots
  • Lace cut to desired size

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven on the lowest possible temp.  Mine is 170F (75C), I am sure a little higher would be just fine. Dip the tags in the coffee and then gently place them on a cooling rack placed on top of a cookie sheet.    Give it about 10 min in the over or until the paper is completely dry.
  2. After the paper has cooled down, stamp it on one side.
  3. Place a glue dot in the middle on the back of a tag, and then another one parallel the hole where the ribbon will go.
  4. Put a toothpick on top of the glue dot  in the middle, and then place another tag on top (you are basically making a toothpick sandwich).
  5. Tie a small piece of lace or ribbon to keep the other side together.
  6. Enjoy!

So. Another blog, eh? I guess.

I am married to a wonderful (Canadian) nerd who decided to purchase a URL 20 min after I told him that I might want to start blogging. Maybe I can even talk him into a guest post one day.

So this is my attempt, but with the help of someone who actually knows what they are doing. Doesn’t it look pretty?! If you saw my last blog, you would absolutely agree.

Not sure how many people are actually interested in reading about our lives, but this is an easy way to share updates with our friends and family.    I will try to keep posting on here as much as I can.   I even have a couple of ideas for the future!

If you are reading this, please drop a note or a comment and let me know if you want me to write about something specific.

Hugs,

Irina
